Gin
Okanagan Blue
The blue hour, before the citrus. Gin, lavender syrup and soda, served vivid blue with the lemon on the side.
Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- 1 oz Bench & Bloom lavender syrup
- Soda water, to top
- Ice and a lemon wedge on the side
Method
- Fill a glass with ice. Add the gin and the lavender syrup.
- Top with soda water. It stays a vivid blue.
- Serve with a lemon wedge on the side so each guest turns their own from blue to pink.
Sometimes you want to keep it blue. Without citrus, the butterfly pea holds a deep lake blue, so this is the one to pour when you want the colour to land first and the party trick second. Set the lemon wedge on the rim and let everyone turn their own.
A juniper-forward gin gives the lavender something to lean on. Start from a bottle of Bench & Bloom or a batch of lavender simple syrup.
Skip the steeping. Ours is already dialled in.
