Gin
Lavender Gin Fizz
The classic. Gin, lemon, lavender syrup and soda, shaken bright and floral. The drink Bench & Bloom was built for.
Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- 0.75 oz lavender simple syrup
- 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 egg white (optional, for foam)
- Soda water, to top
- Lavender sprig or lemon twist, to garnish
Method
- If using egg white, add the gin, lavender syrup, lemon and egg white to a shaker and dry shake (no ice) for ten seconds.
- Add ice and shake hard until cold.
- Strain into a chilled glass.
- Top with soda water and garnish with a lavender sprig.
A botanical gin gives lavender something to lean on rather than fight. Look for a juniper-forward or floral gin, and use plenty of fresh lemon. The citrus is what keeps the lavender bright instead of perfumey.
Start with a batch of lavender simple syrup, or pour a measure of Bench & Bloom, which is already balanced for exactly this.
Want it softer and longer? Make it a Lavender Tom Collins style build with more soda, or skip the gin for a Lavender Lemonade.
Skip the steeping. Ours is already dialled in.
